And they left an amazingly detailed record of their relationship in the form of more than 5,000 letters. Sarah Greenough of the National Gallery of Art has edited a new volume of these letters. The Athena Breast Health Network

The Athena Breast Health Network is launching a series of face-to-face forums where patients, breast cancer experts and community members can exchange direct experience and research in breast health care. The first forum will examine breast cancer risk assessment and prevention - and the results will be fed back into the UC-based Athena Network of 150,000 women to improve survival and reduce suffering from breast cancer.

A National Park Expands

Golden Gate National Recreation Area, which includes Alcatraz Island, the Marin Headlands, Muir Woods and many other Bay Area landmarks, has added one more piece to its portfolio: a large chunk of the Peninsula south of Devils Slide. Negotiations to incorporate Rancho Corral de Tierra into the park took 10 years, and ended plans by a developer to build pricey homes in the Half Moon Bay area. Still, not all of the tensions with local residents have been resolved.

The San Francisco chapter of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is urging its donors to keep supporting the breast cancer charity. After a storm of criticism, the foundation announced it's scrapping plans to pull breast-screening funds from Planned Parenthood.

Missing Fisherman's Capsized Boat Found

Coast Guard crews have found the capsized boat but not the body of crab fisherman Shau Tsu Wong. He set out on a fishing trip two days ago from Pillar Point harbor on the Peninsula.
